Art class for the charter school students is a non-traditional art program. The curriculum for the K-2 art classes will involve art and science components. Because of this combination, projects and units will vary from the current CES art curriculum. A licensed art teacher will teach all K-2 charter students, however, kindergarten students will have art in their kindergarten classroom, and first and second grate students will have art instruction in the art classroom. Although the curriculum and look of the charter art program will be different from the traditional CES art program, the focus is still on the enjoyment of expressing, creating and problem solving with art materials. Charter students will use a variety of mediums to create art and relate their art to famous works of art when possible.
