The Discovery Charter School is governed by its own council that sets the policies and procedures for the school. The Governance Council, which connects to the regular board of education through the superintendent, enables the school to retain its unique features as a self-governing entity.
The Governance Council has established bi-laws that set the structure for the council. The bi-laws establish that the council consist of nine members to include four parents, three school employees, (at least one of which will be a charter school teacher,) one community member and the District Superintendent. Council members serve two terms. Current voting members of the council include Cori Denk and Angela Genco - Co-Presidents, Christine Adams - President-Elect, Katy Sanders-Secretary, Aaron Adams, Melodie Tadych, Danelle Anderson, Dawn Loomis-Vierck, Peggy First, Superintendent Bryan Davis.
The council meets monthly on the third Tuesday of each month in the Columbus Elementary School IMC beginning at 6:30. These meetings are open to the public.
